MR W, KENT
WHAT WE DO

Three ways we help families in Kent

Note-taking during a conversation in a warm room
WILLS

If you died without a valid Will, your estate would be distributed according to the law, which means that your wishes may not be carried out.

What it is, and how we do it

WHAT

A Will is a legal document which enables you to determine who inherits what and when.

HOW

We complete an instruction form to gather the names and relationships of your family and friends who you would like to benefit, as well as the role that they may have within your Will. We then provide the advice to determine the type and design of an appropriate Will and draft a document which would protect your wishes.

LASTING POWERS OF ATTORNEY

In the event of losing mental capacity, the Court of Protection would have the power to take control of your property and finances. A lasting power of attorney enables you to choose who would make decisions in your best interest.

What it is, and how we do it

WHAT

A legal document within which you appoint people to make decisions on your behalf whilst you are alive, but unable to manage your own affairs. There are two types. One for your property and financial affairs. The second for your health and welfare.

HOW

By asking you the relevant questions, we can prepare this document to ensure that people chosen by you can carry out your wishes.

OBTAINING PROBATE

Following your death, if the assets you leave behind are more than a certain value, your chosen executor may have to apply to the court in order to carry out your wishes.

What it is, and how we do it

WHAT

A legal process during which your legal representative settles any liabilities that you may have and then distributes your assets to your chosen beneficiaries.

HOW

Integrity Legal Services could undertake this work on your behalf, thus removing a lot of stress for your loved ones.

Also: estate and inheritance tax planning, nil rate band discretionary trusts, trusts for business property, living wills, partnership agreements and cross option agreements.

THE LAW DECIDES, UNLESS YOU DO

What happens if you do nothing

Without a Will, the intestacy rules for England and Wales decide who inherits. Not you. Choose a situation below to see what that means in practice.

IF YOU DO NOTHING

SPOUSE: FIRST £322K + HALF
CHILDREN: SHARE OTHER HALF

The law splits your estate by formula. Stepchildren receive nothing.

IF YOU MAKE A WILL

YOU DECIDE

You choose who receives what, when, and can appoint guardians for children under 18.

IF YOU DO NOTHING

SPOUSE: EVERYTHING

Parents, siblings, friends and charities receive nothing at all.

IF YOU MAKE A WILL

YOU DECIDE

You provide for your spouse and still leave gifts to parents, siblings, friends or charities.

IF YOU DO NOTHING

YOUR PARTNER: NOTHING
CHILDREN
PARENTS
SIBLINGS

Your partner inherits nothing. It does not matter how long you have lived together.

IF YOU MAKE A WILL

YOU DECIDE

A Will is the only way to protect an unmarried partner.

IF YOU DO NOTHING

CHILDREN: EQUAL SHARES AT 18

You cannot choose guardians, include stepchildren, or set a later age to inherit.

IF YOU MAKE A WILL

YOU DECIDE

You appoint guardians and can set trusts so children inherit at an age you choose.

ABOUT MARK

Twenty-two years of explaining this properly

Mark Underwood has been in the Will writing profession since 2004. Prior to this, Mark was an Independent Financial Advisor specialising in guiding and supporting clients on their journey to protect them and their assets from long term care costs. It was during this period that he recognised the need to inform people of the consequences of not making proper plans for what might lay ahead, and to explain this in plain English.

What our clients say

"Expert knowledge"

We were recommended to Mark to help us deal with my mother-in-law's estate, passing the probate to someone with expert knowledge.

We were recommended to Mark and his team by our financial adviser to help us deal with my mother-in-law's estate. The primary benefits of appointing them as the administrators were passing over the task of dealing with the probate to someone with expert knowledge, at a time when other matters concerning the management of the estate, the funeral and other issues, needed dealing with. The aspects of their service which I particularly liked about Mark and his team were the home visits, and always being on hand to answer queries and to advise us of their progress.

I have also referred Mark to many friends, who all speak very highly of him. If you want advice in these areas from someone that's knowledgeable and caring, then look no further than Mark.

We had been considering updating our Wills for some time. By chance a relative mentioned and recommended using Integrity Legal Services. We made contact and arranged a home visit. At that first meeting we were impressed by the responsiveness and ease of reply to our many questions. Explanations were clear, concise and simple to understand. The home visits were found to be most convenient, providing a relaxed atmosphere. In today's environment it often proves difficult to get a return call. We were, however, impressed by the prompt professional approach.
